You’re in the shower when that big idea hits you. You sleep, as your brain wanders around sending you signals. Some of these you’ll remember when you wake up, some you may not. Strangely, some you recall when you stop trying to recall them. What’s the deal here? Oh, the power of the subconscious mind.
We spend so much time active in our conscious mind. It’s rightfully so, that’s what makes it the conscious mind.
What we often fail to consider is the power of the subconscious mind.
Even though it gets tried, again and again, leading us to our next big idea, we often fail to give it the time of day it deserves.
Some experts will claim that the subconscious mind is responsible for 90% of the work our brain does. Compare that to the 10% the conscious side does. Who knows for certain what the numbers really are, but who really cares? The important takeaway is that we tap into the limitless power that exists inside of our skull.
So, what are some great ways to capture the power of the subconscious? Think of the ways in which it normally presents itself. When do you get your “aha” moments? Maybe it’s in the shower. Maybe it’s during a mindless stroll. It could be sleeping or it could be during meditation. Different people will find different things that work for them. The key is to recognize your moments of subconscious brilliance and put them to work for you.
It shows just how powerful putting something on the back-burner can be. You might be faced with a tough decision and it works itself out when you stop thinking about it. You might be struggling with a task until it plays out in your subconscious mind. When you return, you wonder why it was so easy.
It’s there. We must use it or we must sacrifice a large part of our brain power. The choice is ours.
