Every day, one of life’s lessons becomes more clear to me. “If you can dream it, you can do it.” The only thing that is holding you back is you. Ignore the naysayers, and believe in yourself.
Some people will doubt you. Some people will laugh at you. Some might try to end whatever dream or aspirations you might have set out to achieve. Sadly, sometimes these people are the “closest” people to you. Use their doubt as your ammunition. Set your compass where you’re heading and proceed, headstrong.
If you can dream it, you can do it. And this is true, with most things in life. Of course, if you dream of being able to fly on your own power, this may never come true. You can take flight in other ways (planes, helicopters, etc.), but no amount of willpower or desire has ever allowed a human being to take flight (unless it is documented and I missed it).
It doesn’t necessarily mean you should stop trying either. If this is your dream, dream big. Dream and work towards what you’d like to achieve. After all, imagine the faces of all the people who doubted you when you finally took flight. They’d likely be a bit envious.
And that’s where much of their “naysaying” comes from. Some people want to hold you back because your dreams are bigger than their dreams. People may feel jealous or envious, and their desire to cut you down is their attempt to keep you on a level playing field with them. I’m not saying that you’d be “better” than other people because of aspirations, but you’d be better than them because you didn’t cut down other people’s. The same is true for your own aspirations.
Don’t let the naysayers stop you from achieving what you’d wish.
Let them live their simple and muddled lives, while you decide to make your own path.
