Want one surefire way to change your entire day? Every morning, meditate.
Whether it’s one minute, ten minutes, thirty minutes, or more, meditate.
Practice mindfulness. The few minutes you dedicate to this task can dramatically alter the rest of the minutes in which you aren’t actively practicing.
It’s not always easy to diffuse and focus solely on one task. Meditation requires regular and proper practice. It also requires a good deal of patience. The benefits of actually committing to some form of meditation are amazing.
Start today, and take it easy on yourself. Meditation can look different for people. Sit in silence, close your eyes, lay down, keep your eyes open, do whatever you feel like. Just practice.
Meditation can lead to a feeling of calm and a feeling of fulfillment. Meditation helps to be mindful of what’s going on in the present moment, which can drastically help us to remain mindful throughout the other times of our days.
In a world that’s so busy and fast paced, being able to remain calm, focused, and centered can provide great rewards.
We may not miss the little details of our days, for starters. While running around and “putting out fires”, it’s easy to miss the beauty that is in front of us. It’s also easy to miss the most important details of things we may or may not be dealing with. Meditation gives us the mindfulness to slow down and enjoy the process.
I now try to make it a goal to move slower. Not at an annoyingly slow pace (or at least I don’t deem it to be), but I learned that when I’d hurry around to do things I would try to multitask. This started a cycle of self-induced stress which was unnecessary. Now, even when (and especially when) I have much to do or am faced with an “emergency”, I try to get to it at a comfortable pace. This allows me to think things through clearly, and strategically help the situations I face. Meditation has helped teach me to do this, and it can help everybody in some way.
