Sometimes we meet harsh reminders of life’s “unfairness.” We heard this as youngsters but rarely wanted to agree or accept the fact. It’s not easy to accept that life isn’t fair, but important we do. That is if we’d like to grow. Complacency is not our friend. Comfort is not our friend. Sometimes life is unfair, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing.
Accepting that life isn’t fair helps keep the fight alive.
If we rolled over each time we were dealt an unfair circumstance we wouldn’t have made it out of childhood. Against the odds, we decided to keep going. Because of this, we became the people we are today. Despite that we were not dealt a great hand at times, we played the game and ended up better. Sometimes we drew different cards, but other times we folded or went all in. No matter what, it’s our hand to play.
Some claim everything happens for a reason and it seems fair in some examples. Looking at the “unfair” circumstances in life, it’s clear that bad things happen to good people and vice versa. These things cannot simply happen “for a reason.” Of course, we say this, but it cannot be absolute truth.
Now we engage another unfair circumstance. How will we answer? Will we submit to the unfair situation or grow stronger? Will you be your hero? Many have picked me up when I felt life wasn’t fair. Some were tough, some compassionate, and some both. Thanks to their guidance I’m able to say that you will be okay. Life isn’t always fair, but you can grab turn things around.
